MALLORCA

Aug 31 - Sept 7, 2019

SAILING + CLIMBING + YOGA  RETREAT

Sailing in Mallorca truly offers the best of the Mediterranean: an accessible coast dotted with beautiful beaches and secluded coves, the unique and delicious cuisine of the Balearic islands, and clear blue waters that are incredibly warm and inviting.

For rock climbers, the island is a true paradise, with a variety of sport climbing areas as well as

world-famous (and breathtaking) deep water soloing spots along the coast. Mallorca has something for everybody: tufas, roofs with big jugs, overhangs as well as cracks and slabs, all difficulties included and all on great solid rock.

ITINERARY

PALMA

DAY 1

Upon arrival, we will spend our first evening at the beautiful marina. Palma de Mallorca is home to one of the largest marinas in Europe and is just 8km from the airport. Palma is the main town of Mallorca. We can explore the winding cobbled streets of Palma’s old town and lose ourselves in the alleyways where we will find numerous tapas bars, restaurants and hidden cafes in the back streets. During the evening, we go over the week’s itinerary including the sailing, yoga and rock climbing schedule.

PORT D'ANDRATX

DAY 2

We greet the day with sunrise yoga followed by a hearty homemade breakfast, and then depart Palma, passing Cabo Blanco with its stunning cliffs. We pass by the islands of Toro and Malgrats, the bay of Santa Ponsa and Playa del Mago named after a movie with Michael Cane. We swim to a beach bar for lunch and/or cocktails. We will then sail towards Port Andratx, one of the prettiest harbors in Mallorca. The surrounding steep cliffs are also a rock climber’s paradise. We may explore the town of Andratx, time permitting. We will have dinner by the beautiful harbor, with a spectacular view of the horizon and bustling nightlife.

PORTO CRISTO / CALA MAGRANER

DAY 3

The next morning, after sunrise yoga, we will sail towards Porto Cristo. This region is known as Calas de Mallorca, “the coast of the coves”. During the day, we will enjoy the many coves (“cala”) in the area. We will have the luxury of doing our own private “cove hop” between the calas, all with stunning cliffs and rocks above turquoise waters. Cala Magraner is a beautiful climbing wall, popular with international climbers, offering sport routes from 5.9 to 5.11. We will have dinner in Porto Cristo, famous for nightlife and its seafood restaurants overlooking the water.

CALA VARQUES / CALA SA NAU

DAY 4

After a morning yoga session, we will sail to Cala Varques, perhaps the most beautiful deep water soloing spot in Europe. Here, the famous caves rise above clear turquoise waters. Climbers can try hard (or moderate) bouldering problems above water, swim to the boat for lunch, relax and repeat. The best part is that our approach is easier than anyone else’s – we just sail up to a front-row view of the climbers. Cala Sa Nau is another popular deep water soloing area (time permitting). We will spend the evening in one of the larger ports in the vicinity, enjoying dinner and nightlife together before continuing the festivities on our yacht together.

CALA FIGURERES

DAY 6

We will spend the morning enjoying Cabrera National Park and continue our exploration of the small island after yoga. Right after family style lunch on the boat and a quick swim, we will sail back towards Mallorca, in the direction of Cala Figueres. More than anywhere else on Majorca, Cala Figueres retains the atmosphere of a working fishing port. The white washed houses stretch down to the water’s edge and fishermen sit on the quayside fixing their nets. If we arrive early we can buy some of the catch of the day. We will enjoy the village, a lovely seafood dinner, and a quiet evening in the company of friends by the water.

PALMA

DAY 7

Early morning, we will begin our sail back to to Palma. The afternoon will be spent at eveyone’s leisure, either at the beach near the marina, by enjoying the mountainous coastline or taking the extra time ashore to explore the narrow streets and shops of this ancient town. Gastronomy tour or inland rock climbing (optional). Our arrival time will allow everyone enough time to either continue their journey in Mallorca or catch their connections back home on the following morning.

COLONIA DE SANT JORDI / ISLA DE CABREA

DAY 5

After breakfast on the boat, we will sail to Sant Jordi which boasts some of the best beaches in Mallorca. Sa Rapita is home to one of the largest beaches in Mallorca, Es Trenc, two kilometres of white sand and clear turquoise waters. Weather and conditions permitting, we will sail to Cabrera National Park for a day trip. An archipelago of protected, beautiful small islands off the southeast coast of Mallorca, Cabrera is a Maritime-Terres trial National Park with untouched flora and fauna. It is one of the most stunning and remote natural areas you can visit in Mallorca by boat. Dinner aboard with incredible view of the stars.

BRING YOUR BODY BACK TO BALANCE

The journey of sailing can be transformative - it enhances our practice as we engage in yoga, meditation, and mindfulness in serene and awe-inspiring environments while being immersed in nature and inspired to go with the flow; wind + sun + water.

Your 7- day wellness journey will feature different sequences for each day's theme. You will be challenged to awaken your spirit and find your inner calm. In the mornings we will greet the day on the water and enjoy a session that will be relaxing but also incorporate more challenging sequences, as you find your center and embrace ebb and flow. Our evening/sunset restorative practice may be held on the yacht, remote beaches, or specially designated docks on the island. Each practice will combine elements of dynamic movement + mindfulness that incorporates features which are appropriate to the setting.

ABOUT THE YACHT

The 46 foot catamaran is a true blue-water cruiser featuring a self-stacking mainsail with integral sail cover, roller-furling genoa, and twin 55 hp diesel engines. An electric windlass with handheld remote makes anchoring easy. The raised hardtop bimini shaded helm station is at the forward end of the spacious cockpit and above the cockpit’s hardtop roof, providing 360 degrees of visibility. The cockpit has walk-through access to swim platforms, stereo/speakers, a large table, lots of seating and a spacious saloon.
